Bavarian Forest National Park
Let nature be nature!
The unique natural landscape extends to the neighbouring Šumava National Park in Czechia, making it the largest forest reserve in Central Europe.
In keeping with the motto ‘let nature be nature’, more and more unique landscapes are emerging here, where numerous rare animals and plants thrive magnificently in their natural environment. Around 13,700 different animal species, such as otters, lynxes and capercaillies, find their perfect habitat here.
As a visitor to the Bavarian Forest National Park, you can expect numerous facilities, such as the forest history museum, the Spiegelau playground, the Lusen and Falkenstein national park centres, as well as many inviting barbecue and playground areas and a refreshing Kneipp facility.
The national park also has a lot to offer culturally, making summer and winter in the forest unique.
Concerts, guided tours, special programmes for children, exhibitions, workshops, festivals and specialist lectures, and even a treasure hunt with geocaching. With the help of a GPS device, you can join the rangers on a digital scavenger hunt.
You can experience nature at its most beautiful on the themed trails, along the nature discovery trail or on summit hikes to Siebensteinkopf or Lusen.
Viewing platforms offer unobstructed views of the national park, and anyone who settles down at one of the inviting rest areas at the end of the day will surely agree: the Bavarian Forest is simply beautiful!
